Kirchner pipeline: the construction that threatens hundred-year-old trees in Argentina

The caldén, an endemic tree species of the Pampean region, is in danger. Millions of dollars invested in a pipeline and a government in crisis face the conservation of a unique forest in the world and in clear disappearance that only protects a handful of neighbors.

An excavator clears Caldenes trees during resurfacing work on Provincial Route 18 on the outskirts of Doblas, La Pampa province, Argentina, September 2022.

This project was funded by Periodistas por el Planeta.
